Location
Dornoch
is 2 miles off the A9 which is the main trunk route to the North of
Scotland.
Over the last few years, the A9 has undergone several improvements
making the
journey to Dornoch a very easy and pleasant one. While the main coastal
roads
are excellent, if you are touring in the area you will, at times, find
yourself
on rather narrow roads with passing places. Dornoch is around 4 hours
driving
time from Edinburgh, Glasgow or
Aberdeen, and it's less than
1
hour from
Inverness. In relation to the rest of the Highlands we are
around 2 hours from John O Groats in the far north or indeed the Isle of
Skye.
There is
an airport at Inverness, and we can
arrange to have you collected or
assist with car hire for the duration of your stay.
Inverness,
45 miles away,
has a main line rail service connecting with all main UK
cities. It
is also the terminus for the London/Inverness sleeper service which
should be
booked well in advance of your visit. Again we can arrange to collect
you or
assist with car hire for the duration of your stay.
Dornoch
has a good bus
service to the North and South (changing at Inverness)
with a bus stop 5 minutes' walk from the Divot.
The
Divot
is situated
within the town of Dornoch
(see map below) with private car parking, direct access to the garden.
